I recently shared my Kohl’s summer finds, and I’m back with a roundup of back to school essentials. Kohl’s is always one of my go-to stores for back to school dresses and tops. You can’t beat their sale prices, and I love their brands like Apt. 9 and Sonoma. Please note that I often size down in these brands.

Dresses

These shift dresses are a great staple. Since they are not cotton, they’re a bit dressier. They come in a few patterns, but I went for a striped pattern and a floral pattern. Because there’s not a lot of shape with this dress, I personally preferred pairing it with a belt.

Sizing is a bit tricky on this one because it doesn’t stretch. I’m in my normal size medium, but there was definitely extra room in the waist. If I had sized down to a small though, I would not have been comfortable in arm and chest area.

I featured these t-shirt dresses in my summer favorites post, but they are perfect for the classroom. These cotton dresses are easy to wear and comfortable. They also pair nicely with a denim jacket.

I’m in a small in the yellow and a medium in the white. I preferred the fit of the small but will be cautious when drying since it is cotton which has tendency to shrink. I also found the denim jacket to run quite big and would have preferred a small over the medium I initially ordered.

If you’re comfortable wearing a sleeveless dress to work, these are loose fitting, comfortable, and they have pockets. Again, consider sizing down if you’re in between sizes.

Tops

I found the best little tie tees, and they come in a bunch of pattens. They are very breathable without being see through, and I appreciate the length, even with the tie. I’m wearing my true size medium.

This pretty Vera Wang blouse was a must have. It’s loose fitting and comfortable. I would recommend sizing down if you’re in between sizes. This looks great on its own to paired with a blazer. I recommend this one from Apt. 9. It’s got a nice sleek look and fits TTS. This blouse also doubles as a great date night outfit with a pair of white jeans.

Now onto some tanks. I also featured these in my summer favorites, but again, I love pieces that can double as workwear. These simple tanks are great layering pieces and work perfect under a cardigan, blazer or jacket. I found these to run TTS and am wearing a medium in both the white button tank and the printed v-neck tank.

Let’s also pause for a moment to admire the comfiest work pants. These crepe wide leg pull on pants are beyond comfortable and have a great fit. I did size down to a small in these for height. I’m 5’3 and preferred to wear a small wedge with them.

Last up is this pretty cap sleeve top. I error on the side of caution when it comes to sleeveless blouses at work, but since this is more of a cap sleeve, I feel comfortable wearing it. This one also fits TTS.

I hope you found a little inspiration to kick off the back to school shopping this year! I’ll be back with Part II of my Kohl’s work wear finds in a few days!
