Hello friends! I truly can’t believe that I am saying this, but happy back to school season! Where did the Summer go? I feel like I was just writing happy Summer break and here we are, preparing for another amazing school year!!
Each year, one of my favorite things to do is take inventory of my classroom and change out/switch up my decor for the year. I try to stick with the same color scheme so that I don’t end up spending a fortune on an entire new room every year and it makes it easier to find new pieces when I need them!
I decided to round up some of my favorite classroom decor pieces from Amazon if you are in need of a room overhaul, or just need some new pieces to spruce up your existing decorations!
First, we have these adorable file folders. I love that these are cuter than your typical file folders, but they are still so durable and functional. They each have a space up top to label and are made of a higher quality material, so feel free to stuff these with as many papers and assignments as you need to!
Who doesn’t love a cute bulletin board decoration? It just makes me smile to decorate mine, and even though I teach older kids, they seem to love it too! These are adorable and go right along with my black and white core theme. The best part though? They are $6.99 for 36 pieces! Score!
I feel like these little felt boards gained SO much popularity in the last 5 or so years, and I have to say I love mine! This is the cutest + simplest way to change out a fun daily or weekly message without writing it on the board and can also be used for holidays and other celebrations. It’s fun, but not in your face if you are into a more subtle decoration. Highly recommend!
Okay, this one goes out to the teacher who is looking for a total room overhaul and wants to have a totally black and white polkadot classroom like I do! Here you can find ALL your must-haves from a rug, to hanging file storage, all the way up to the pompoms, lanterns, and garland you can hang from the wall or ceiling! This is a great decor guide if you are starting with a blank slate and want to really transform a room. I think my favorite piece here would be the bulletin board set. That is such a huge thing in a classroom and can truly change a space just by decorating it differently!
I think this one is pretty self explanatory, right? Lol. I love this little sign and it fits perfectly in the window by my door! I like that it’s small and subtle but also fits right in with my decor!
You could put this on your desk as well, but I think it’s just perfect by the door.
I LOVE this little hello sign. I would totally use this at my house, too. It’s so cute and looks very upscale but is priced for less than $20! I like to hang it on my bulletin board, but you could use this on your door, or even hang it from the white board! It adds such a nice touch to the decor and I truly just adore this little sign.
This little invention is genius- seriously! It’s a peel and stick dry erase board! I mean seriously, this little thing is awesome. I can’t be the only teacher who has struggled to have a place where you can quickly write something to the class that isn’t on the main board. I love this and I keep it on my bulletin board right next to my actual white board. It’s perfect for reminding my students when assignments are due or when test days are!
This might seem silly, but all teachers know you need good magnets. When the bell rings and all 30 kids rush out of your class as fast as they possibly can, papers and other things can seriously fly off of the board if you don’t have a good magnet! I wish I was kidding about this. Lol. This also applies to those who teach younger students who are up and moving all day.
I love these sets because they are not only incredibly strong, but they are adorable as well! Snag a pack for your white board!
Even if you don’t wear glasses regularly or already wear contacts, I highly recommend these blue light blocking glasses! I didn’t believe the hype on these, but once I started using them my eyes have seemed less tired and I get much less frequent headaches from looking at screens so much. These can even be helpful at home before bed to block the blue light that comes from devices!
This border is one of my favorites year after year! (Also I am pretty proud of my whip it good reference but that’s not why we’re here-lol) It’s very minimalistic with its polkadots, but goes with everything and is so cute with its scalloped edge! It is 36 feet long and is less than $10. Definitely snag for your bulletin boards!
The last thing I want to share with you today is this decorative washi tape! I can’t be the only teacher who has had to tape things out of the way or together (like the millions of cords that flow off of your desk at any given moment). I also use this tape to section off my board for each day of the week and to label things in my classroom! It’s so helpful and of course, it’s adorable!
Of course you don’t need any of these things to have a fantastic year, but I wanted to share some of my favorite things for those of you who are looking to spruce up your space or need a clean slate this year! I hope you all have a fantastic start to your year and don’t forget how valued you are! You’ve got this.
