If there’s one request I get from teachers this time of year, it’s ideas on what to give students for Christmas or holiday gifts. I’ll admit, this is a tricky one. There are so many variables to consider, and whenever I receive messages with these requests, I always have a million questions. What grade do you teach? What is your school policy for gift-giving? Do all students celebrate Christmas? Is there a “no food policy” in your district? What is your budget?
I ended up putting together a list that covers quite a few ranges when it comes to age and budget. Some are Christmas related and some are not since Chrsitmas is not celebrated in all schools. Most of these gifts can be given at any time of year too- beginning or end of the school year, Halloween, or Valentine’s Day. Some would also make great additions to a class prize box or treasure chest. I’ve even used some of these ideas as gifts to give to my children’s classmates.
I also have a few FREE gift tags you can download and print to go along with some of these gifts.
And don’t forget, there are plenty of things you can do for your class that don’t cost a thing! What student wouldn’t love…
- Extra Credit Points
- Bathroom/Hallway Pass
- Extra Free Time
- Pajama Party
- Hot Cocoa and Movie
- Reading Picnic
- Coupon for Homework Pass
At the end of the day, students love knowing that you care, and any gift you give them will be appreciated.
